In this video, you'll hear firsthand accounts from Mom about her experiences at the Ronald McDonald House Charities Central Illinois (RMHCCI) during this challenging time. She reflects on the significance of RMHCCI in their lives and the support it provides:
"I was in the hospital, and I filled out the paperwork. Once they were born, I realized that I was going to be living here (at RMHCCI) for the next 3 ½ months. It became a bigger part of my life than I realized it would ever be, which I’m very thankful for."
The family was grateful for the comfort and welcoming atmosphere RMHCCI offered: "I had my own room, which I was very thankful for, and my own bathroom. They give you the opportunity to make it really feel like home, and everyone here is very welcoming. I was excited to just be close to my babies."
The Shugart family also highlighted the sense of relief and support they found at RMHCCI: "I just loved that I could go in the room and kind of almost forget about the stress of what we were doing. There were always meals, and there was always someone to talk to if I needed it, and everyone was always very welcoming.
It was a very homey and welcoming place." The video also showcases how RMHCCI played a vital role in helping them be there for their babies every day: "It was important in every way with my babies' NICU journey. I was at the hospital for 12 hours a day. This place just gave me the backbone to be there for them every day. It helped me create that bond."
The Shugart family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to RMHCCI and its donors: "Thank you for being like emotionally, physically, and for providing meals. Thank you donors for the space that you created. The rooms, the privacy that you have, I just can’t imagine the amount of times I had cry sessions in those rooms. Thank you for all the things that you provided for us to have as much of a stress-free environment as possible."
